SIU does not handle claims for any insurance carrier. However, we are more than happy to assist with reporting of new claims to insurance company claim departments and assist with ongoing claim communications.

TIPS TO FOLLOW:

• Report incidents such as fire, burglary, vandalism, or other emergencies to the authorities immediately. If authorities are dispatched, provide them with detailed information and keep thorough records for future reference.
• Notify your insurance company about the claim as soon as possible.
• Document the damages by taking photographs or videos before starting any cleanup. This documentation may be required by the adjuster for review.
• Carry out emergency repairs to prevent further damage and save all related receipts.
• If the property is unsafe and you need to temporarily relocate, retain all receipts for expenses incurred.
• Remain accessible to the claims representative and/or adjuster.
